I am coach of finswimmers. We are using Kieren's way of preparing to 800 and 1500m distance { 100m sections with very short rest intervals - from 6 to 8 seconds}. I have read it in summer issue of Swimmer on fall 1996 and we are using this training method from this time with big succes. The member of my training group - Hana Vykoukalova - is very fast improving her performance from this time. Her results on distance 1500m: year 1994 World Champ 11th place year 1995 Europien Champ 10th place year 1996 World Champ 12th place winter 1997 - our start of new training method year 1997 Europien Champ 4th place year 1998 World Champ 2nd place Thank's, Kieren.

Kieren has inspired me to keep on going even when times are tough. I'm actually a cycler but swimming is my favourite sport and Kieren is my hero. I'll be there in 2000 to cheer him on and to make sure that that jerk Hackett doesn't beat him. Kieren is one of Australia's greatest ever champions, if not the best! He has the inner strength that fuels a champion and his performances at the Barcelona and Atlanta olympics were truly inspiring. I wont make any excuses for him being beaten by Hackett at the Commonwealth games, but I assure you the true champion will show what he is really made of in front of his home crowd at the Sydney Olympics. His number one fan already has tickets to see the King retain his crown.
