Grant may have smashed the 1500 world record, but Perkins is still the king!
Clarification: Grant broke theSHORT COURSEworld record. Kieren's record was set in 1993 in Canberra. Perkins went into the race unrested and unshaven. He hadn't tapered for the event, but thrashed out a world best. Perkins never had a try at the swim in peak condition. His time could have been anything.
In addition, Kieren hates short course, avoids racing it and in fact has never been to a short course world championships (because he didn't want to.) Grant is still 10 sec away from his Long Course world record, which is what counts!

Hey! Kieren was sick! His preparation was ruined. And he swam very well, Neethling was only 0.02 sec in front. His time was good! How many people even make their 3rd Commonwealth Games, let alone win medals in the same event. Anyway, now he has the full set for that event, gold-silver-bronze. Way to go, Kieren! He's a legend!

In regard to your comments made about Kieren Perkins, you have just shown everybody how immature some people can be! I also think Michael Klim is a great swimmer but I am afraid Kieren Perkins is in another league all together. The thing that surprises me is that though I think Kieren Perkins is a supreme athlete and the greatest at that, I would never stoop to the level of bagging another Australia Athlete - I hope you feel very proud of who you both are because I sure in hell wouldn't want to be either of you with limited views like yours. Kieren as long as you believe in yourself and do your very best everyone will be proud of who you are and what you have done for Australian swimming - you are truly the "KING OF THE POOL"

Kieren is, and will always be, the greatest swimmer of all time. He has made many sacrifices and stretched to his absolute limit on more then one occasion to achieve at the best level he possibly can and I (along with many other Australians) believe that he 's not finished yet. There's plenty more to come from Kieren especially in 2000. His courage and will to never give up are the two main reasons why I believe he is the best athlete of ALL TIME!
