Kieren Perkins most definitely wants to be at the Olympics, and his selection seems likely. To qualify for the Olympics a swimmer must finish in the top 2 places at the Olympic trials. Australia is a difficult place to qualify because it has the top 3 400 and 1500 swimmers in the world, however considering Kieren holds the 400 and 1500m world records, and his best 1500 time is 8 sec faster than Grant Hackett and 12 sec faster than Daniel Kowalski have ever swum I'm sure he can manage at least a 2nd placing at trials, especially considering that on current world rankings Perkins is higher than Kowalski, Perkins consistently beat Kowalski last year, and Australia's 4th best 1500m swimmer is about 45 sec slower than Perkins.
Once selected for the Olympics I'm sure Perkins will get back down to his world record and possibly faster, which will be very difficult for Hackett to defeat...

It appears you should work on your spelling. For example, what do the words nocked and arigant /b>mean?

Comments: Thank you and here it is. Regards Bob Bush PERKINS’ QUEST Australians enjoy their sport! They enjoy winning and they idolise their champions. But they love to see the underdog get up and win! And the greater the odds against them winning – the more they love it! Because Australia is an island, with water blue and clean, Kieren Perkins won in Barcelona, back in ninety-two, Although he held world records, he was in the middle of a spell, He qualified to race by a fraction of a second, Even those who knew him well and been faithful fans for years, He stared down the lane and he saw the outcome of the race, By the end of the first hundred, his intentions were made clear, But you can never discount a champion – even when they're down, His arms were tired and heavy – in fact they felt like lead, Just as the Melbourne cup, brings Australia to a stop, The halfway point came and went and still he held the lead, He touched the blocks and turned with a hundred left to swim, As “Brooksy” called the race – himself a swimmer and a mate, Every single person, who has ever won, lost or tried, He raised his fist in victory and gestured number one! He stepped up on the dais to accept the medal for his win, With that prized Olympic gold, now in its rightful place, Now when they speak of former feats, unparalleled in sport, 4th January 1999 |
